President Nixon
Richard Nixon was born in California in 1912, he went to Whittier College and Duke University Law School. In 1940, he married Patricia Ryan and had two daughters, Patricia and Julie. Nixon served as a Navy Lieutenant commander during World War II. Then severed as Vice President under Republican President Dwight D. Eisenhower from 1953-1961. Nixon decided to run for presidency in 1960 but was unsuccessfully. In 1962 Nixon ran for Governor of California but was yet again unsuccessfully. However, in 1968 he re-emerged as a presidential candidate and was successful in the campaign against Democrat Hubert Humphrey. One thing Nixon knew was that he did not like to lose, and would do anything to win this campaign even if it meant cheating. While Nixon was president during when The Watergate Scandal occurred. A "plumbers" unit was then established by Nixon's aides in the White House with the sole purpose of gathering political intelligence on perceived enemies. A team of burglars from the "plumbers" then broke into the Democratic National Committee to plant bugs (tiny audio transmitters) to hear what there plan was to win the election. Nixon didn't know when this was going to happen, but he knew of the plan. So, yes Nixon was involved with the Watergate Scandal even though he didn't plant the "bugs" himself, he had other people do it for him. And then when he was questioned about the scandal, he denied everything and said that he wasn't a part of it. Then that lead him the resign as President of the Untied States of America.
